After a stimulating talk on the internet space in China, this month we bring a more traditional topic - the search for health and balance, and the Chinese solutions to that. Professor Mei, a renowned expert on Chinese traditional medicine and lifestyle will be giving a lecture on the use of tea, herbs and excercise to reach a balance in life. This will be followed by a tea ceremony, tea tasting and snacks. All guests will get a free health diagnosis by trained TCM doctors who will examine your tongue and pulse! Prepare to get a deeper insight into traditional Chinese way of life and appreciate choice Chinese tea.

Our guest speaker:

Professor Man Fong Mei

As a passionate integrator of medicine between East and West for over three decades, Man Fong Mei is actively involved in many leading academic and clinical institutions in developing a global integrative model for medicine. He is currently a professor at Guangxi medical University, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine and the Chinese Medical Institute and Register. With many years of experience in teaching Chinese medicine and acupuncture to western doctors, he is deeply aware of the differences in medical system-methodology preventing meaningful integration.

Developing from his PhD thesis on the effects of electro-magnetic energy in the clinical applications of electrotherapy and electro-acupuncture, he is currently researching in a study of particle physics and its relevance to the modernisation of Chinese medicine. Methodological comparison between evidence-based-medicine and the dialectical differentiation of the syndromes in Chinese medicine is also a keen topic of his research.

Amongst the many official positions, he is presently serving as chairman of the Chinese Medicine Council (UK) and the China-UK Consortium for Medical Integration, Research and Collaboration (CUC). With his connection with ongoing Chinese biomedical research and development projects, as vice president of the Specialty Committee of Chinese Materia Medica (Beijing), he seeks to engender closer collaborations between China and EU.

In China, he received the “Award for Outstanding Achievement” from the China Association of Chinese Medicine. In the UK, he was also appointed as a member of the Steering Group set up by the Department of Health (UK) to report on the regulation of Chinese medicine, acupuncture and herb medicine.

In his busy schedule, Professor Mei maintains a clinical practice at the AcuMedic Clinic, the highly reputed Chinese Medical Centre in London.
